Mazuma are one of, if not the best recycling company in terms of customer service with a strong brand and very good reputation. This is an important consideration as the last thing you want is to send your phone off only to suffer problems with payment further downt the line (which unfortunately can and does happen). Mazuma make payments fast and, for the reasons above are a safe bet in terms of making sure you get your money! In terms of price they are fairly competitive.

Mazuma Guarantees (Promises)
Mazuma make several “promises” on their site which cover all aspects of their service.
Same Day Payment:
Mazuma promise to make payments the same day phones are received. This means that they process all orders quickly, checking the condition of the phones, and provided they are as described (by you) they will make payment the same day. If your phone is not as described (for example you sold a phone as fully working that turns out to be faulty) then you will be offered a revised price or the return of your phone (described in more detail below).
There are a couple of exceptions to this guarantee which are:
- Public Holidays
- Orders received after 14:00 (2pm)
Of course if you are paid by cheque then you will have to wait for the postal service to deliver it, and with both cheques and bank transfers there will be a clearing period (though most bank transfers are now same day).
So, whilst you may not actually get your hands on the cash immediately, the main thing to take from this guarantee is that Mazuma do not mess around! They process orders and make payment promptly.
Satisfaction or the return of your phone:
Unfortunately this is not as good as it sounds from a customer (sellers) persepctive. This promise refers to exchanges where the phone(s) do not meat Mazumas terms and conditions or are not in the condition described (by you). In this instance Mazuma will make a revised offer for your handset, which you have the right to refuse. So, the satisfaction or return promise really refers to exchanges where the price is adjusted downward from that agreed at the time your agreed to sell your phone. Still, this does ensure that you get at least the price agreed, or the option to have your phone returned.
Free Postage:
As mentioned earlier, Mazuma like most mobile phone recyclers offer free postage when you agree an exchange. Once you place an “order” Mazuma will send you a welcome pack including a freepost bag and posting instructions with a choice of two different shipping companies. Furthermore, if you are selling more than 10 mobile handsets Mazuma can arrange free of charge collection of your phones.
Free Data Delete Tool:
This is a great feature of Mazumas service, and shows their genuine commitment to keeping customers happy! Failure to delete old data from your phone is a serious security / privacy issue and there have been several reports in the press recently about concerns regarding this specific issue.
Mazuma take this seriously to the point that they developed software which will erase all data from most mobile phones, an application they claim to be the first of its kind in Europe, providing clear instructions on how to erase your old data.
Mazuma are Environmentally Friendly:
All recycling companies claim to be environmentally friendly, but Mazuma provide more information than most on this subject. Mazuma try to re-use over 95% of handsets received in developing markets, which of course they would do as there is more money to be made selling phones than scrapping them!
Where phones have to be scrapped Mazuma promise to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly way. This is actually a legal requirement and all recycling companies are obliged to do this. Mazuma are a little different though in that they say they are a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Authorised Treatment Facility and are ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Accredited, whereas other recycling companies seem to outsource the scrapping of un-usable handsets.
Secure Website:
Mazuma make sure their website is secure to avoid loss of your data, however, this only refers to basic encruption of the transaction over the internet and really is a minimum standard you would expect from any site.
Summary of Mazuma Mobile Review:
Mazuma are one of the best companies in the industry. You can trust them with your handset. You will get paid promptly, and you phone will be well looked after! If Mazuma are price competitive on your particular handset you cannot go far wrong with this company.
Mazuma Vs Envirophone:
In terms of competitors, Mazuma has very few in terms of size, brand and overall levels of service, the one that springs to mind of course is Envirophone, the other big player in this industry. There really is little to choose between these companies other than the fact that EnviroPhone offer a couple of additional payment options. Both are large well established companies who take thier reputation and brand seriously. Both can be “trusted” with your phone. When faced with a choice between Mazuma and Envirophone then price would be the obvious determining factor.
