Money 4 My Mobile

Money 4 My Mobile are another quite well known mobile phone recylcling company who will merilly pay you cash for your old phone, however, when we started reading their site for the purpose of this review we found several mentions of another recycling site “Love2Recycle”, who appear to be owned by the same parent company.

As with all the mobile recylcers we have looked at so far they promise to dispose of your old phone responsibly and in accordance with the WEEE directive. This is the minimum you can expect in terms of disposal as WEEE is legislative, that said, WEEE places responsibility for disposal on manufacturers rather than recycling companies.

One limitation of Money 4 My Mobile is that they say they only want handsets under 4 years old, which of course are more easily sold on, avoiding to a point having to deal with scrapping of older models.

Money 4 My Mobile do not seem too keen to take on damaged or broken phones either stating that the phone must not have any “significant damage, although some mild cosmetic damage (general wear and tear) is acceptable”. They go on to say that they do not want water damaged phones, cracked screens, missing batteries or battery covers.

Money 4 My Mobile do go on to say that they will take damaged phohnes at a reduced rate, but the list of items preceeding this statement does imply that Money 4 My Mobile are really into the business of reselling your phone to another user rather than having to deal with the disposal of non saleable phones.

I guess there is nothing wrong with that, but it does contrast with some of their competitors who are licensed to handle disposal of non re-usable phones, as well as being in a position to resell them.

Another interesting section from their terms and conditions states that the phone must be made by the original manufacturer, i.e. not a fake, and that it must not be stolen or barred!

I know that the police are increasingly working with mobile phone recyclers to try and prevent stolen phones being sold on in this manner, and Money 4 My Mobile seem to be taking the issue of handling stolen phones seriously.

They also stipulate that you must be the owner and that the contract must be up (if it were not then the phone could arguably belong to the retailer or network provider who gave it to you).

What Payment Options to Money 4 My Mobile Offer?

Money 4 My Mobile offer two types of payment:

  • Bank Transfer
  • Cheque

So, are a little more limited than competitors in this area. That said, these are by far the most popular options in use, so it should not present a problem to any genuine seller.

Should you sell to Money 4 My Mobile?

From what we hear this company has a decent reputation in terms of payment, both the amount paid and their reliablity.

If they offer the best price then there is no reason not to use them, unless you want more flexible payment options. They are probably not the best people to send broken phones too either.

Overall though, Money 4 My Mobile seem to be a decent choice.
